What Is Osteopathy?
Osteopathy is a hands-on therapy that focuses on how your body moves and functions. It’s based on the idea that all parts of the body work together — and when one area is out of balance, it can cause strain or pain elsewhere.
Osteopaths use gentle techniques to restore movement, reduce tension, and support your body’s natural healing processes. The approach is whole-body and tailored to each person — not just focused on the site of pain.

Treatment designed for your needs
What Does Osteopathy Treat?
Osteopathy is effective for a wide range of issues, including:
- Back and neck pain
- Joint stiffness
- Postural problems
- Muscle tension and fatigue
- Headaches (especially tension-type)
- Sports injuries
- General aches and pains
It’s also used to support recovery after injuries and surgeries, or as part of long-term health and mobility maintenance.
How Does it Work?
Treatment involves a mix of manual techniques, depending on what your body needs. These may include:
- Soft tissue massage
- Stretching and joint mobilisation
- Gentle manipulation
- Movement advice and postural support
Unlike some therapies that only treat the symptoms, osteopathy looks at the bigger picture. For example, knee pain may be linked to how your hips or ankles are moving — and treatment will reflect that.
What to Expect at an Appointment
At your first session, Caroline will take time to understand your health history, daily habits, and what’s brought you in. You’ll get a full physical assessment and a clear explanation of what she finds.
If treatment is appropriate, we’ll start right away — always working within your comfort levels. You’ll also get practical advice to support recovery or prevent the issue returning.
Who Is It For?
You don’t need a GP referral to see an osteopath. Osteopaths are trained, registered healthcare professionals who offer a safe, personalised alternative — or complement — to conventional treatment.
Whether you’re dealing with a specific problem or simply want to feel more at ease in your body, osteopathy offers a practical, effective way to improve your wellbeing.
